Christmas at the National Sea Life Centre Birmingham

Over the weekend we visited the National Sea Life Centre in Birmingham. We hadn’t been for a few months, and we were very keen to go whilst they had an extra special guest in residence.

We were there nice and early, and it seems this is a good time to go as we had plenty of access to all of the exhibits. We wandered around peeking at all of the wonderful sea creatures. My favourites are always the penguins, with the jellyfish coming in a close second as they are so mesmerising, I think I could watch them all day! The kids enjoy spotting the octopus and the Husband likes the ray pool.

There are plenty of fun and educational facts scattered about and it seems that each visit the kids discover something new, something fresh to fascinate them. There are stamp stations to visit and collect, various lift the flap games and interactive screens. There’s also a rock pool to reach in and touch starfish, crabs and more. It seems that there’s something for the kids to do in very room as you walk around, along with the amazing wildlife all around them.

A Santa Claus visit and gift is included with entry, and he sits in a grotto at the end of the experience. The soft play drew the kids in before the queue for Santa Claus, which was a nice short wait before they got their moment with the big man himself…

I do like seeing Santa at the Sea Life centre, as you know that whatever the weather, you’ll enjoy your visit there, which can’t always be said of days out in December! As the Sea Life Centre is so near to Birmingham city centre, it makes for a lovely way to kick a festive day out off, as we visited there before heading down to New Street and the Christmas German market. A great day, and the kids are now cherishing their gift from Santa.

Would your kids enjoy this?

  1. This looks like a magical experience. We have been to Bham Sea Life before (for my birthday last year) and we loved it. I think going at Christmas time would make a wonderful day out even more special! #TriedTested
