SmartSign Review & Competition

As you’ll know, I work from home. It’s a funny thing, working from home for yourself, as you choose your own hours, work out your own ethics and practices and create your own work space. For me, that work space is a desk in a room that also functions as a playroom for the kids and houses our guinea pigs in their huge enclosure. With multi-purposes, I do what I can to make it feel professional and nice to work in, which is where my lovely new addition comes in. Thanks to SmartSign, I have a new sign and I Read more >

A Hampshire Mini-Break

Last week saw us spending a couple of nights down in Hampshire, exploring the area and enjoying a few of the many family attractions there. To be honest, we could have spent a lot longer than three days there as there was a lot to see and do, but we did manage to cram a lot in, so here’s what we got up to on our Hampshire mini-break… Getting There We travelled down from the West Midlands and it took us just under two and a half hours and was a very easy run. On the way back we decided Read more >

BookBeat: Fitting More Stories Into My Life

It’s no secret that I adore books. I tend to read 3-4 a month at this time of the year whilst I’m also studying, and I manage to get through many more over the summer when I am free to do so. However, I have never tried audiobooks. Until now. I have been welcomed to the world of audiobooks through BookBeat. BookBeat is relatively new to the UK, having established itself in Sweden, then Finland and now we have it here in the UK. It’s been something of a revelation to me. What is BookBeat? Founded in 2015, BookBeat is Read more >

What more could we need? YorkTest Food Intolerance Review

Early last month YorkTest got in touch with me asking me to review their food intolerance testing services. Now, I have long suspected that I have food intolerances, though I have never been tested. It’s been difficult to work out exactly what I react to, though I suspected it was wheat, as pancakes and too much cake, biscuits and the like make me feel bad. I was keen to figure out what it actually was. I will say at this point that whilst I knew that something was making me uncomfortable with bloating and pains sometimes, it was not unmanageable Read more >

What the Ladybird Heard Live!

Yesterday we were fortunate to be invited along to Birmingham Town Hall to see What the Ladybird Heard Live! We are big Julia Donaldson fans here and I have so many happy memories of reading this one to Boo over and over and over again so we were all very excited about the show. Two crafty robbers, one tiny ladybird, and a whole farmyard of fun! Hefty Hugh and Lanky Len have a cunning plan to steal the farmer’s fine prize cow. But they reckon without the tiniest, quietest creature of all: The Ladybird has a plan of her own! Read more >

Gruffalo: Puzzles – A Fun New App!

Now I don’t normally share apps, but when Magic Light Pictures got in touch about their new Gruffalo: Puzzles app, I could not resist – we all adore The Gruffalo here! It was one that I suspected the kids would enjoy and one that I suspected would be beautifully animated and it turns out I was right on both counts. Gruffalo: Puzzles App Based on ‘The Gruffalo’, the classic children’s picture book written by Julia Donaldson and illustrated by Axel Scheffler, the app includes six different puzzle games to play. You can play with all the characters from ‘The Gruffalo’, Read more >

5 Benefits of Using a Dehumidifier

A few weeks ago we were sent a Vax Power Extract 20L Dehumidifier to test out. As we’d never had a dehumidifier before, I was keen to see how they worked and what difference they made. I did a little bit of searching about to find out what benefits it was likely to bring, so for those of you wondering the same, here are just a few things that they can do: Reduce allergies. Many of the most common allergy triggers, especially dust mites, mould, and mildew, thrive in humid environments. Preserve food and furnishings. With less moisture in the air, Read more >

Meeting Santa at The National Sea Life Centre

Over the weekend we took the kids to the National Sea Life Centre Birmingham to meet the man himself, Santa Claus! It’s fair to say that they were really, really looking forward to it. We had a brilliant time at the Sea Life Centre last time that we visited, for their Finding Dory event over the summer, and then to top it off, they were getting to have a little chat with Santa. Now going into Birmingham in December can be a little chaotic, but we had no problems. I’d suggest going early, if possible, to avoid too much traffic Read more >
