Bassetts Vitamins Supporting Family Fun!

The summer is now a dim and distant memory. The darker days are drawing in and it’s definitely feeling chillier. The heating is on and it’s so tempting to just stay in and hibernate until the spring! I have always preferred summertime and the warmer months, and there’s no doubt that they are better for us as they get us out and about. With autumn here and winter drawing in, we do find ourselves indoors that little bit more. We do try to get out at the weekends as it’s important to get as much daylight and exercise as we Read more >

Photo Fun with Snapfish

A couple of weeks ago I spent some time playing around with creating a Snapfish photo book, thanks to their kind invitation to do so. I had a browse around their website and then set about designing an 11×8 landscape hardcover photo book, going for a simple theme for the pages as I plan to use this as a lovely custom Christmas gift. One of the first things that struck me was how many options are available to personalise this, ensuring that it really is a one-off thoughtful present or keepsake. There are so many layout designs available, covering the Read more >

Boo’s Go Ape Party

My baby girl turns 8 tomorrow. To celebrate, she had a Go Ape party yesterday with her friends, over at Cannock Chase. Our first Go Ape experience was back in April when we visited Southampton’s Go Ape experience and both of the kids absolutely adored it. So much so that Boo decided that she wanted to have a Go Ape birthday party this year, and the lovely folks over at Go Ape were happy to oblige! Go Ape is set in one of my favourite places to visit, Birches Valley in Cannock Chase, a place we’ve enjoyed taking the kids Read more >

The Little Book of Lykke Review & Giveaway

Earlier this year I discovered the joy of reading Meik Wiking’s Little Book of Hygge, I talked about it in 5 Books Guaranteed to Inspire You and Can Embracing Hygge Make You Happier? It was an absolute pleasure to read, whilst making me think and make a few changes in my life. It’s a book I recommend to everyone, so when the folks over at Penguin Random House got in touch about Meik’s second book, The Little Book of Lykke out on the 7th September, I jumped at the chance to read it. About The Little Book of Lykke Lykke Read more >

Pirates at the National Forest Adventure Farm

We spent Saturday, our first day of the summer holidays, at the National Forest Adventure Farm. It is a firm favourite family day out of ours, so we were looking forward to visiting and checking out this summer’s activities around the pirates theme. We took a picnic and ate on arrival as once the kids know we’ve got a picnic, they have to eat it immediately. Do all children do this? On the plus side, it saved us from having to carry it around! There are loads of picnic benches scattered all over the place, and there are also restaurants Read more >

Bistrot Pierre Review

We were invited to visit Bistrot Pierre over the weekend, our first time visiting, and it won’t be the last. We had a 12.30 booking and arrived to a restaurant with a few tables filled, yet by the time we left it was packed. It’s fortunate that our kids like to eat early! We often visit restaurants where there are activity packs available for the kids. My two love them, and expect them now whenever we eat out. They tend to be a sheet or a page or two, we had not experienced anything like the wonders of Bistrot Pierre’s Read more >

Everdine Review

You may have spotted recently that I am getting back to the gym. As I want to feel fitter and healthier, I have also been pondering our meal options. We need to eat more healthily, though I often struggle to make the time to cook from scratch and feel I lack the patience and skills to do so. I also feel we’ve got into a rut with some of our meals, so I wanted to try new ideas. With all of these thoughts buzzing round my head, when Everdine got in touch asking me to review their meal service it was actually Read more >

YorkTest FoodScan Junior Review & Giveaway

You may remember that a few weeks ago, I shared with you my YorkTest food intolerance review, sharing the process that I went through (nice and simple) to my results and how I was getting on. Well today I want to talk about their new FoodScan Junior tests, designed for children. The Junior Test Kits The testing process for FoodScan Junior from a customer’s point of view is the same as that of an adult. The difference is that the kits include a sticker for the child and you need to somehow persuade said child to have a blood test. Read more >

SmartSign Review & Competition

As you’ll know, I work from home. It’s a funny thing, working from home for yourself, as you choose your own hours, work out your own ethics and practices and create your own work space. For me, that work space is a desk in a room that also functions as a playroom for the kids and houses our guinea pigs in their huge enclosure. With multi-purposes, I do what I can to make it feel professional and nice to work in, which is where my lovely new addition comes in. Thanks to SmartSign, I have a new sign and I Read more >

A Hampshire Mini-Break

Last week saw us spending a couple of nights down in Hampshire, exploring the area and enjoying a few of the many family attractions there. To be honest, we could have spent a lot longer than three days there as there was a lot to see and do, but we did manage to cram a lot in, so here’s what we got up to on our Hampshire mini-break… Getting There We travelled down from the West Midlands and it took us just under two and a half hours and was a very easy run. On the way back we decided Read more >

BookBeat: Fitting More Stories Into My Life

It’s no secret that I adore books. I tend to read 3-4 a month at this time of the year whilst I’m also studying, and I manage to get through many more over the summer when I am free to do so. However, I have never tried audiobooks. Until now. I have been welcomed to the world of audiobooks through BookBeat. BookBeat is relatively new to the UK, having established itself in Sweden, then Finland and now we have it here in the UK. It’s been something of a revelation to me. What is BookBeat? Founded in 2015, BookBeat is Read more >
