Family & Days Out

Siblings November 2017

Another month has rolled around! So what’s this last month brought to my pair of siblings? We’ve had half term, a welcome break and it was great to see the two of them enjoying each other’s company all week. It’s funny how quickly I’ve adjusted to not having my Little Man at home with me during the week, but that being said, I do love school holidays and having them both with me. The week went by way too quickly, where they crammed in an overnight trip to Legoland and the Roald Dahl museum, catching up with friends, colouring, crafts Read more >

Disney On Ice: Passport to Adventure

There was much excitement here yesterday as last night we went to see Disney On Ice: Passport to Adventure at the Arena, Birmingham. As regular readers will know, we are all about Disney here at the moment as we are off to Disney World next summer, so this show was brilliant timing to get us all in the Disney mood. And even better, we surprised the kids by taking them along to the Meet and Greet before the show, which delighted them! A little about the show… “Celebrate the most memorable Disney tales with all your favourite characters in Disney Read more >

Siblings October 2017

Another month, another Siblings update. This month has seen another birthday here, this time it was Boo as she turned 8. I now have an 8 year old and a 5 year old, yet it feels like only yesterday that I had a baby and toddler. The time is flying by, and never have I felt it more than this past few weeks as both of my children are now in school. We’re hurtling towards half term here and I’m not sure where that time has gone! Little Man seems to much more grown up and confident now that he’s Read more >

A Train Trip to Birmingham

Last week was Boo’s birthday and she was very lucky and received some money. Whilst she wanted to save most of it to spend on her trip to Disney World next year, she was also keen to buy a few things. We decided to go shopping in Birmingham so she’d have lots of shops to choose from. Sometimes we’ll drive into Birmingham to shop, but whenever we want to make it more of an adventure, we get the train in. It’s only around a twenty minute journey and it brings us into Grand Central with its fab shops and right Read more >

Happy 8th Birthday, Boo!

Today my beautiful baby girl is 8. These eight years have just flown by, and my eldest has ensured that I have loved it all. From baby to toddler to pre-schooler to school girl, Boo has delighted in everything around her. She misses nothing, is freakishly observant, and absorbs all that she can like a little sponge. She wants to learn about everything and gets so excited to discover new subjects, facts, places to go, skills – it really doesn’t matter what it is, this girl approaches everything with bags of enthusiasm. She’s in Year 3 now at school, a Read more >

Boo’s Go Ape Party

My baby girl turns 8 tomorrow. To celebrate, she had a Go Ape party yesterday with her friends, over at Cannock Chase. Our first Go Ape experience was back in April when we visited Southampton’s Go Ape experience and both of the kids absolutely adored it. So much so that Boo decided that she wanted to have a Go Ape birthday party this year, and the lovely folks over at Go Ape were happy to oblige! Go Ape is set in one of my favourite places to visit, Birches Valley in Cannock Chase, a place we’ve enjoyed taking the kids Read more >

Visiting Sudbury Hall

Over the weekend we visited one of our favourite National Trust sites, Sudbury Hall. Sudbury Hall is a winner for us as as well as a beautiful hall to look around which normally has an I Spy trail on for the kids, sprawling gardens to play in and a fun woodland play area, it’s also home to the National Trust Museum of Childhood. This also helps to make it perfect for rainy days as it’s a property that you can spend plenty of time at inside, and the play area is very shaded under trees so doesn’t get too wet. Read more >

A Family Holiday at Duinrell, Holland

If you follow me on social media, you might have spotted some of our adventures when we were on holiday last month. As we had such a great time at Duinrell in Holland, I thought I’d share a little more about what we got up to and where we stayed, as if you are looking for a great family holiday, I would definitely recommend it. My friends have heard me banging on about it, so now you can! We all loved it, it was great for all four of us. None of us wanted to leave and we could have Read more >

Siblings September 2017

Over the past few weeks, since my last post, we’ve had our first holiday abroad, more fun in the summer holidays, Little Man’s fifth birthday and Boo’s return to school with Little Man starting school. It’s been a busy month! And with all of these events and changes, my two have had so much fun and grown even closer. Our holiday was fabulous, we all loved it and didn’t want to leave. The kids played from morning ’til night and then we could hear them giggling together at bedtime as they enjoyed the novelty of sharing a bedroom. I’ll share Read more >

Little Man is a Schoolboy

Little Man is now a schoolboy. How did that happen?! He started school a couple of days ago, and is just going in for the afternoons this week. He will be there full time from Monday. I really wasn’t sure how he would get on, as he struggled to settle for a while when he started nursery. Although he’s come a long way since then and really enjoyed his settling in sessions just before the summer break, I didn’t want to be overly confident that all would be well. But it was. It is. Now, he is just doing afternoons, Read more >

Little Man is 5 Today!

Today is my Little Man’s birthday, he’s 5 years old today. Five. Just wow. Where did those years go? I’ve seen this boy as a sleepy and cuddly baby, a cheeky daredevil toddler, a shy and imaginative preschooler and now we’re here turning five, as he’s about to become a schoolboy. Little Man is funny, cheeky, imaginative, quiet, determined, loving and he is passionate about the things that he is interested in. He loves playing with his superheroes, Star Wars toys and Lego and adores playing on the Playstation and cuddling up and watching movies. He’s been seeing family for Read more >

A Day Out At Drayton Manor

One of the best things about being a blogger is getting invited to family fun days out, the kind that make my kids scream and jump up and down with excitement. It just makes me so happy to see them so happy. On Sunday we were invited to visit Drayton Manor, one of their very favourite places in the whole wide world, which is very handy as it’s about fifteen minutes from us. It was a sunny day which was just perfect, though that did mean that everyone else had got the idea to go there, it was the busiest Read more >

We Are Sea Life Centre Ambassadors!

Today I am delighted to announce that we have been invited to work with the National Sea Life Centre in Birmingham for the next year, as blogger ambassadors for them. We’ve visited Sea Life several times since having the children and they always enjoy their time there. As they have grown, they have got different things from it. When they were little the tanks and exhibits were mesmerising, as they grew they enjoyed the more interactive parts of the experience, the rock pools, trails and stamping machines, and these days, they also take in the information available about each species. Knight's Village Sword Fight

A Sleepover at Warwick Castle

Last week we had a sleepover at Warwick Castle, staying in a Woodland Lodge in their Knight’s Village. We checked in after a fun afternoon at Warwick Castle, wandering round and taking in the birds of prey show, Horrible Histories and Wars of the Roses Live. I wrote earlier this month about all the reasons I think you should visit Warwick Castle and how much we enjoy our days out there, so do check that out for more details on the castle. We watched all of the shows again and I even managed to squeeze in a solitary trip to Read more >

Pirates at the National Forest Adventure Farm

We spent Saturday, our first day of the summer holidays, at the National Forest Adventure Farm. It is a firm favourite family day out of ours, so we were looking forward to visiting and checking out this summer’s activities around the pirates theme. We took a picnic and ate on arrival as once the kids know we’ve got a picnic, they have to eat it immediately. Do all children do this? On the plus side, it saved us from having to carry it around! There are loads of picnic benches scattered all over the place, and there are also restaurants Read more >

SSE Wildcats training session

My Daughter Has Football Fever!

Yes, football fever has taken hold here! Last week Boo and I went along to our first SSE Wildcats session to find out what it was all about. SSE Wildcats sessions are for girls aged 5-11 years old to encourage them to get into football in a safe and fun environment. SSE firmly believe that everyone deserves the same opportunities regardless of gender and as the energy behind football they are looking to create opportunities at all levels of the game. They are proud supporters and as such are looking to spread the word about the Wildcats and encourage more Read more >
