Family & Days Out

My Daughter Has Football Fever!

Yes, football fever has taken hold here! Last week Boo and I went along to our first SSE Wildcats session to find out what it was all about. SSE Wildcats sessions are for girls aged 5-11 years old to encourage them to get into football in a safe and fun environment. SSE firmly believe that everyone deserves the same opportunities regardless of gender and as the energy behind football they are looking to create opportunities at all levels of the game. They are proud supporters and as such are looking to spread the word about the Wildcats and encourage more Read more >

Warwick Castle – A Must-Visit this Summer

Warwick Castle – A Must-Visit this Summer

We have been to Warwick Castle a few times this year so far, and we will definitely be there again this summer. I love the history, of course, and the kids and the Husband love exploring the grounds, watching the shows,  climbing the towers, and so much more. This is why I’m sharing with you why I think Warwick Castle is a must-visit this summer, and with the school holidays on the horizon, perhaps it’s one to pop in your diary. Let me preface this post with the fact that I am a Warwick Castle ambassador this year, so we Read more >

Bistrot Pierre Review

We were invited to visit Bistrot Pierre over the weekend, our first time visiting, and it won’t be the last. We had a 12.30 booking and arrived to a restaurant with a few tables filled, yet by the time we left it was packed. It’s fortunate that our kids like to eat early! We often visit restaurants where there are activity packs available for the kids. My two love them, and expect them now whenever we eat out. They tend to be a sheet or a page or two, we had not experienced anything like the wonders of Bistrot Pierre’s Read more >

Siblings June 2017

As I write this month’s post, I have both kids at home with me. Right now, I hear the Muppets Most Wanted soundtrack playing, they are off in another room with swords, costumes and a lot of laughter. This is a normal day. When they are together there is always laughter, imaginary play and a lot of noise! They do quieten down when watching TV, but I’d say that’s about the only time when friction can arise between these two as TV choices are clearly the most important and contentious decisions they make all day! As Little Man comes up Read more >

We Are Going To Walt Disney World!

I mentioned last week that we were looking into booking our Walt Disney World holiday, and yes, we are now booked up and excited! We will be going next summer and are booked to stay in one of the Disney World resorts. As I have spent a fair bit of time researching this, I thought it would be helpful to put together a few reasons that we decided to book into a Disney hotel, rather than go for another hotel or a villa. On the surface, these look to be cheaper options, but there are several perks with staying in the Read more >

A Hampshire Mini-Break

Last week saw us spending a couple of nights down in Hampshire, exploring the area and enjoying a few of the many family attractions there. To be honest, we could have spent a lot longer than three days there as there was a lot to see and do, but we did manage to cram a lot in, so here’s what we got up to on our Hampshire mini-break… Getting There We travelled down from the West Midlands and it took us just under two and a half hours and was a very easy run. On the way back we decided Read more >

Family Motor Show Events To Check Out This Summer

As the summer sets in, it’s time to turn to family days out. Make this summer holidays more exciting than ever by considering to visit motor shows and make it a summer of motoring. Over the recent years, motor shows have evolved drastically and are no longer the boring stuffy affairs with static displays. They have become family friendly, full of exciting turns and twists as well as unending entertainment. Here are some of the notable motor show events suitable for families to visit this summer: Cholmondeley Pageant of Power Held in the Cholmondeley Castle Gardens, Chesire, this event is Read more >

Siblings April 2017

Little Man seems to have had a growth spurt this month. I find them tricky to spot as I see him every day, but his trousers seem that bit shorter and several people have commented on his height to me. Yep, he’s shooting up and is quite a bit taller than most of his friends. This means that although Boo is also quite tall, as they run around and play together, their age gap seems so much smaller. The near three year age gap is barely discernible when they play together. They each get to choose what to play, both Read more >

Our Stay Play Explore Break

Last weekend saw us having a Stay Play Explore mini-break around Leicestershire. I have only got really good things to say about this, so I will say right up front that I think this break represents fantastic value for money, is great for families and every aspect of our stay and adventures were crammed with fun and great service. What more could we need? How the Stay Play Explore Break works For a family break, you can choose 3 attractions to visit over the weekend (or indeed over three separate weekends if you’re relatively local and want to do it this way) Read more >

Siblings March 2017

Another month has rolled by, so it’s time to take a look at my pair of siblings. This month they seem to be back to their energetic, buoyant selves. They are the very best of friends. They had a lovely half term together, lounging about in the mornings, playing and creating ‘shows’ for me to see, along with catching up with friends. Since Boo’s gone back to school, Little Man is quite content at home without her, but there’s no doubt that when she’s here, she is all he wants! They are often louder than I’d like, they often leave Read more >

Siblings February 2017

It’s time for me to share a little update on my two this month, and initially I though that not much had changed. But there has been a shift, and it’s largely down to my daughter. Boo and Little Man still play together, still giggle and conspire together, and last week saw them having fun on a ‘sleepover’ together – they both slept in Little Man’s bedroom, at their request, which they loved. On the surface everything’s the same but it seems that my girl is growing up. We took them to the playground last weekend, nothing out of the Read more >

Siblings January 2017

OK, to sum the siblings up this month is easy – they absolutely adore each other! Having two weeks off over Christmas has meant that they are the very best of friends. We had a wonderful break and the kids were just revelling in being together 24/7. Boo’s return to school has meant that every afternoon they try to cram in about a day’s worth of play in the couple of hours they have together, and they give it a good go! They have yet to come down after Christmas and as we were keen to keep the fun times Read more >

Our 2017 Adventures Wishlist

I have said it before and I will say it again, I do not like January. I am a summer person, I like warmth, sunshine and pottering about in the garden. I am OK with autumn as I love the changing colours and the cosy evenings, I then have Christmas to look forward to which I love but when that’s all over and I’m left with cold January I am not happy! Knowing this, I decided to book a little weekend away for us all for this coming weekend and having that on the horizon is making this month and Read more >

What the Ladybird Heard Live!

Yesterday we were fortunate to be invited along to Birmingham Town Hall to see What the Ladybird Heard Live! We are big Julia Donaldson fans here and I have so many happy memories of reading this one to Boo over and over and over again so we were all very excited about the show. Two crafty robbers, one tiny ladybird, and a whole farmyard of fun! Hefty Hugh and Lanky Len have a cunning plan to steal the farmer’s fine prize cow. But they reckon without the tiniest, quietest creature of all: The Ladybird has a plan of her own! Read more >

Siblings December 2016

Ah, December is here and with it comes over-excitement, anticipation and endless questions. When will it be Christmas? How does Santa do that? What shall we feed the reindeer? How does the elf work? What will we do on Christmas day? – this last question has been answered many, many times, but they do not tire of hearing the answer! I do love Advent and the countdown to Christmas, and we’ve been fully indulging in our fair share of Christmas movies, songs, meeting Santa, looking at beautiful lights and catching up with friends and family. And the kids? They are Read more >

Meeting Santa at The National Sea Life Centre

Over the weekend we took the kids to the National Sea Life Centre Birmingham to meet the man himself, Santa Claus! It’s fair to say that they were really, really looking forward to it. We had a brilliant time at the Sea Life Centre last time that we visited, for their Finding Dory event over the summer, and then to top it off, they were getting to have a little chat with Santa. Now going into Birmingham in December can be a little chaotic, but we had no problems. I’d suggest going early, if possible, to avoid too much traffic Read more >
