The Blog Lowdown – You Baby Me Mummy

Today on The Blog Lowdown, I’m delighted to be hosting Aby from You Baby Me Mummy….

Please Introduce yourself:
Hi I’m Aby I blog over at You Baby Me Mummy. I am 37, mummy to Baby and wife to Mr Hubby. We live on the Berks/Hampshire border, but I am originally from Cheshire.

When did you start blogging?
I started blogging at the end of August 2013 (although I back dated some some posts taken from my diary, back to the day I found out I was pregnant. As I wanted to include Baby’s whole story).

Tell us a little about your blog
You Baby Me Mummy is a UK parenting and lifestyle blog. I originally started it to simply be a place to record Baby growing up and our special memories. Quickly it has progressed to much more than that. I love blogging and I now work with companies reviewing products and writing on other subjects, which adds an extra dimension, which I enjoy.

Who designed your blog?
The amazingly talented Helen Braid from @EllieAllAtSea. Helen blogs at All At Sea Scotland and offers her design services on Ellie Illustrates. Helen has designed lots of amazing blogs, Edspire, Ghostwriter mum, The L’s Mum, Ellie Bear Baby and countless other beautiful blogs. Helen looked at my blog posts and designed fabulous artwork that highlights aspects of us as a family. Perfect!

Which of your posts have been the most popular? Are there certain types that get more interest?
My most popular post of all time is ‘Blogging – A full time job?’, followed by ‘A Homemade Valentine‘ and then ‘A Letter to Matilda Mae‘. So they couldn’t be more different!

How do you promote your blog posts, and which methods do you find to be most successful?
As soon as I publish a post it goes through to Twitter. I then put it on Facebook (my FB is a page of my personal account so can’t link my blog to it). Then I use Twuffer (I LOVE Twuffer!) to schedule tweets throughout the day. Over the next few days I will also tweet links to these posts usually slightly less frequently than on the day they are published. I use the Evergreen plug in, which tweets posts for you, so my archive gets some love. I also pin my post to Pinterest and join linkys.

Which linkys do you most enjoy joining in with/reading?
I have a spreadsheet! I love linky’s and at the moment do the following;

Monday – Living arrows/The 52 Project/Point & Shoot (with one post) & Magic Moments/Ordinary moments/What’s the story (with a 2nd post)
Tuesday – Tried & Tested (review linky)
Wednesday – Mad Mid Week Blog hop
Thursday – I run Share Your Wedding feature, I will also post my content. Usually no linkys.
Friday – I join in with Word of the Week/PoCoLo/Binky Linky/Share with me (with one post) and have just started the Alphabet project with a photo post.
Saturday – I do SatCap and Mums’ List with two separate posts.
Sunday – Silent Sunday/My Sunday Photo and then also a different post for The Week That Was captured.

Occasionally I also join in with Brilliant Blog posts, Tasty Tuesdays, The Theme Game and The Prompt.

When are your busiest days on the blog, and why? (if you know why!)
All days are quite equal, occasionally I have spikes, but that is more to do with a certain post, not a particular day.

Can you name 3 things that blogging has brought you?
Such wonderful friends & being part of the most fabulous community of bloggers is amazing
A creative outlet
The most amazing keepsake for my daughter and us in the future.

  1. Oh my goodness you are organised and you certainly blog a lot! I am impressed by the number of posts you write and Linkys you join… I have no idea how you keep up with all the writing / commenting / socialising and I certainly admire you 🙂 Mel

  2. Such great tips again. I use HootSuite instead of Twuffer but anything that saves time and makes blogging easier is a friend of mine! x
