A Stroll Through My Mum’s Garden

Regular readers will know that I’ve recently started a garden re-design, Project Garden, with A LOT of help from my mum. She’s a keen gardener, and has always come over to mine and taken over my garden, too! She retired at Christmas, and since then, has been spending hours and hours outside on her garden, and is gaining huge satisfaction from doing it. She’s also got plenty of cuttings on the go for me, and gave me my ‘hand-me-down’ herb garden, as it was all from herbs that she had. We’ve been enjoying a fair few visits to garden centres together recently, and I know she’s pleased that I’m finally taking an interest in one of her greatest passions. With all of this in mind, I felt like it was time to stroll through her garden and share a few photos with you, for this week’s How Does Your Garden Grow?

Just a few of the highlights. There’s also a big raised pond in there, fruit trees, a huge patio full of pots and a creepy crawly hotel in the making. Thought she deserved a post dedicated to her 🙂

  1. Oh she does deserve it – how great to have such knowledgeable help at hand. Your gardens looking so green and lush, thriving! I bet your tomatoes taste fine – we’ve been shnaffling our little orange ones here. Beautiful sweet peas- my favourite plant x
I’d be very interested to see your finished creepy crawly hotel – Kitty is forever turning over logs to find and pick up earwigs and beetles, it’s something I’d love to make too.

    Thanks for sharing x

  2. You are right to share some photos of your mum’s garden as it looks fantastic! How wonderful to have that as inspiration for your own space, especially with shared plants and seeds. Good luck with Project Garden!

    1. Thank you – felt it was worth sharing! Project Garden has had a few new plants added this week, so progress is being made..! Thanks 🙂

    1. They are amazing. They’re my mum’s, as mine haven’t done too well either. She’s been bringing me bunches of them round every time she visits!

    1. She certainly does – glad you like it. Loads of love has gone into it, and she’s out there pottering most days 🙂

  3. Those tomatoes look wonderful – ours didn’t last long enough to grow – eaten by pesky birds. Next spring I’m doubling up my efforts to have a good load of veg on the go! How lovely though to have the help and guidance of your mum. My grandmother is a bit like that and is always bringing me little cuttings of things.

    1. I honestly wouldn’t have a clue where to start without her. I’ve become quite passionate about gardening, literally in the last couple of months. It’s only taken her 36 years to get me interested..!

  4. Gorgeous photos – I love the tomatoes and the sweet peas. Would love to have those in our garden. Must be amazing to have the help for Project Garden. Sounds like your mum is having a fabulous time too 🙂

    1. It’s brilliant – I wouldn’t know where to start without her. It’s great to be able to talk about and plan it together – all very excited chatter!

  5. What a magnificent garden she has, I bet it smells devine. It must be great to have her knowledge and obvious growing ability for your garden project. I’m loving the little gnomes sneaking into that picture x

  6. Lovely looking garden and those tomatoes look like they’ll be sweet and juicy. This is the first year in 3 that I’m not growing them so I find myself looking at photos of other peoples tomato plants longingly 🙂

    1. I have lavender cuttings on the way from that 🙂 And I’ve had so many bunches of sweet peas – gorgeous scent. It is a lovely space, thanks
