A Miffy Afternoon

The inimitable Miffy has a big birthday this year – the cute little rabbit will be 60 years old, on 21st June. She’s looking good for 60, I think! So in celebration of this, I’m excited to be working with the team over at Miffy to bring you news and products over the coming months.

To kick off the celebrations, I decided to set up a Miffy afternoon for the kids last week.

I put up Miffy birthday bunting, printed off some Miffy colouring sheets from the lovely Miffy.com, and got our Miffy books collection out ready to enjoy…

They were so excited when they came in and saw it! We’ve got a great selection, as along with the reading books, there are Miffy colouring, activity and sticker books available. They got cracking straight away on some colouring in…

Boo was playing with her little Miffy, and then decided to draw her, too…

And then whilst they were colouring and snacking, I read the stories to them…

Miffy books are all written in verse, a few lines each page. They are quaint and sweet tales and easy to understand, telling of every day happenings. Boo, at 5, loves them as she finds Miffy to be very cute and she’s able to read them herself now. Little Man at 2 adores the stories, and since we had our Miffy afternoon, has been selecting Miffy books as his bedtime read every night. From my point of view, I remember reading them when I was young, so it’s lovely to see my children enjoying them now. She’s a sweet and friendly little bunny, I love the illustrations, and the books are all about topics that the kids understand, opening other conversations up. They’re also a great length for bedtime, so we get two or three in each evening. I’d say Little Man’s current favourite is this one…

Miffy and the Royal Baby. It’s a lift the flap book, reminiscent of the classic Dear Zoo, with fun rhymes and sounds, sturdy flaps and lovely bright colours. We love it!

  1. Ah I still have such fond memories of first reading Miffy when I was little. Even at infant school I remember thinking what a brilliant idea the books were – I loved the simplicity of the design and the colours. A few years later, I still love them. Must invest in some to read with my girls x

  2. Ah I remember there being a Miffy book in the Dr’s waiting room when I was little! I always made a beeline for it!
Thanks for linking up with #TriedTested this week x

  3. Miffy books are fab – we bought the Miffy goes to hospital book when Jessica had to go in last year and it was so good for helping prepare her. Love how pleased Boo looks with herself holding up her colouring and her picture of Miffy looks great. Love the idea of a Miffy-themed afternoon and Boo and Little Man looked like they enjoyed it very much 🙂

    1. That’s a lovely idea, they are good for covering a huge range of situations. Boo was very pleased with her colouring, and I’ll pass your compliments on her drawing on to her 🙂 They really did enjoy it, and Boo’s been asking for another one since, so it looks like we’ll soon be doing it again! x

  4. I love the Miffy books and have a soft toy that I passed on to my daughter. I remember going to the library when I was little and reading Miffy books while I was waiting for my parents. I love the bunting flags. Thank you for bringing back excellent memories.
