A Christmas Star Review & Giveaway

Christmas Stars will soon be hanging in nearly every window in Sweden. It was originally a symbol for the guiding star but today it is a popular Christmas decoration because of it’s atmospheric lighting and lovely design. It makes the room feel all cosy and looks beautiful.

Christmas Stars

When Jackie K contacted me about their stars, I loved the idea of this being a national tradition over in Sweden. The stars look so pretty and the store has an enormous range of them available to choose from. We opted for the Beatrix 72…

Beatrix 72

It came well-packaged within a few days. The star itself is flat-packed cardboard and pops up very easily, and there are clear instructions on how to put the light in. The plug is from Sweden, so we did need to use our adaptor plug with it. I would say that it’s probably easiest to put it up with another person as popping the light in and then sealing it shut can be fiddly. Unfortunately, our string also pulled off quite easily as we were about to tie the star up with the bulb inside which made it tricky. We managed using some more string and a dab of sellotape, so there is a workaround, and do be aware that there will be a fair bit of glitter shed! It is worth the fiddle, though, I think….

It is beautiful, and when the kids came in to see what we were up to there were choruses of ‘oohs’ and ‘aahs’, so I know that they were wowed by it! I like the shadows that it casts and the warm glow that it gives off.

As it’s still early for putting our decorations up, I’m undecided as to where I’ll put this. Likely in the kitchen on the window sill, I think, alongside my twinkly fairylights. I can even see me leaving it there all year round as it is so pretty and it will brighten the dark evenings.

Do pop over and take a look at the full range at Jackie K as there are so many stars to choose from and other pretty decorations.

I do now have a Beatrix star available for one of my readers to win. To be in with a chance, enter using the rafflecopter below. The competition closes at 12am on 23rd November 2015 and is open to UK residents only. Good luck!
